What is Surfski BC?
Surfski BC is intended as a means of providing information to the rapidly growing surfski racing community. Check here for a list of the numerous racing opportunities available to surfski racers in BC and the Pacific Northwest. The focus of the Events listing will be races that put significant focus on the event for surfskiers with consideration given to suitability of the course to surfskis, event organization and compatibility of new events with historically established surfski events. With a little research you may find additional events that welcome surfskiers, but have not been listed on SurfskiBC.
Each race will endeavour to have included a description of the course, distance and special safety considerations to be aware of to help paddlers select and prepare for the events.
The SurfskiBC blog will provide commentary on the events from race participants and stories of local paddling that may be of interest to our fellow paddlers. Stories are welcome from all in our surfski racing community…just ask to become a contributor by sending a message to the blog moderator using the comments field. Share you paddling stories and race experiences with other paddlers in our community…it is a great way to help encourage others to get more involved in the awesome sport of surfski racing.

Nice job Jeff with the new blog/site.
Looking forward to seeing more information about local races and racers. Also, can we add Huki (www.huki.com) to the business list? Thanks.

Hi Jeff,
First of all – Merry Christmas to all of you!
I Just wanted to let you know that I am a fan of your blog and I think you are doing a great job with it. I live in Stockholm, Sweden, far away from you guys, and surfski paddling is growing rather rapidly here to, despite the harsch weather conditions we have here up north!
I started a Swedish surfski blog (www.globalsurfski.wordpress.com) a couple of month ago to promote this fantastic sport of ours, and the blog already has a lot of regular visitors. It is mostly written in Swedish, but some of the content is in English. And just recently a guy in Finland started a local surfski blog there as well!
The sport is growing for sure and we really want to be part of the surfski racing community too.
Hope to see you at some race next year! Take care.
(If would be just great to have a link to my blog under the “paddling blogs” section)

Hi Peter…Merry Xmas to you too. Thanks for the kind words about SurfskiBC…great to see that you have a similar blog to help promote surfski racing in Sweden…it really is an awesome sport and in so many different water conditions.
The link to your blog is now posted…I hope the name given to your blog is ok with you. If you will forward the link to the Finland guy’s surfski blog I can add that too.
Looking out the window at the moment it is snowing, we got about 8 cm snow overnight and getting at least that much again today. A friend tried to paddle surfski yesterday but his rudder lines kept freezing solid! Fortunately this cold weather won’t last much longer here (I hope) and our lovely Vancouver rain will return to wash away all this white stuff…to leave the snow our mountains where it belongs.
Stay in touch,
Jeff
